Managing high-volume data in Oracle Fusion HCM just got a serious upgrade. If you’ve ever found yourself staring at a complex .dat file error or wondering whether to choose HDL over HSDL, the latest release introduces a game-changer: the Data Loader Advisor AI Agent.
Integrated directly into the Redwood Import and Load Data page, this preconfigured AI agent team acts as a 24/7 subject matter expert, helping you troubleshoot errors, fetch real-time metrics, and navigate documentation without ever leaving the page.
What Can the Data Loader Advisor Do?
Think of the Advisor as a specialized consultant embedded in your workflow. It bridges the gap between raw data processing and actionable insights. You can ask it questions like:
- Troubleshooting: “Explain this message: You’ve provided a date-effective row that starts before the existing record…“
- Real-time Analytics: “Fetch the data sets I submitted in the last 3 days” or “Show me errors for data set UCMFA2999255.”
- Technical Guidance: “Which records do I have to supply to load a new employee?” or “How do I install the HSDL extension?”
- Performance: “Why are my data loads slow?”
How to Enable the AI Agent (Step-by-Step)
To get this feature up and running on your Fusion instance, follow these three core phases:
1. Enable Profile Options
Navigate to Setup and Maintenance > Manage Administrator Profile Values and ensure the following are set to Y:
ORA_PER_GUIDED_JOURNEYS_ENABLEDORA_PER_GUIDED_JOURNEYS_SETUP_REDWOOD_ENABLEDORA_ASE_SAS_INTEGRATION_ENABLEDORA_HCM_VBCS_PWA_ENABLED
2. Prepare the Agent & Ingest Documents
Before the agent can answer document-based queries, it needs to “read” the manuals.
- Go to Tools > Scheduled Processes.
- Run the Prepare HCM Data Loader AI Agent process.
- Once finished, run the Process Agent Documents process.
3. Configure and Embed the Agent
The agent lives inside a Guided Journey. Here is how to wire it up:
- Create the Journey: In My Client Groups > Guided Journey, create a new draft. Add a task with the type Agent and select Data Loader Advisor as the Workflow Agent.
- Note the Codes: Save the Guided Journey Code and Task Code.
- Edit the Page: Navigate to the Import and Load Data page, select Edit Page in Visual Builder Studio, and input your codes into the
guidedJourneyCodeandguidedJourneyTaskCodesproperties.
Why This Matters for HCM Specialists
The transition to Redwood is about more than just a fresh UI; it’s about intelligence. By embedding the AI Agent:
- Reduce Ticket Volume: Users get instant answers to “How-to” questions.
- Faster Resolutions: Error explanations are contextual and immediate, rather than requiring a deep dive into logs.
- Streamlined Learning: New team members can learn HDL best practices through natural conversation.
Pro Tip: Ensure your security team has assigned the Access HCM Data Loader Advisor role to your data specialists, otherwise, the agent will remain hidden even after configuration!
